Elections. Oh Elections. We know because of the media’s dialog this year that the public, like the dependable pendulum it is, is going to return Republicans to power this year and this is largely due to Democrats doing nothing but screwing us since ’06 (and really, since forever). Stepping aside the lengthy digression of why we seem only willing to continue returning those who have only ever hurt us to power; this seems to be a retaliation for the Democrats’ grandiose plans that we never got and were either scrapped, watered-down, or reversed entirely. Personally, I think it would be hilarious to see the Democrats keep their position of power, thus removing the inevitable excuse of “oh, if only the Democrats were in the majority, [bullshit] would be so much better!”, and forcing them to spend yet another several years showing us how eager they are to do nothing.

Nevertheless, it seems that the Democrats have realized their position of power is indeed threatened and have begun to try and reverse their course. Their strategy? Insult us of course. The AP reports that Joe Biden while campaigning “urged Democrats to ‘remind our base constituency to stop whining and get out there and look at the alternatives. This president has done an incredible job. He’s kept his promises.’” Really? He campaigned on closing Guantanamo, on healthcare reform with a ‘public option’, on ending the Iraq war, on ending DADT, on ending the Bush tax cuts, etcetera. None of these things has occurred. But if the Left complains, the “base” is told to stop whining and look at the alternatives — which are looking less and less like alternatives and more like of the same.

Stop whining you assholes and just accept that you are unimportant to us and the only time you are on our minds is election season. Or as Lawrence O’Donnell reminisces, “I didn’t listen, or have to listen, to anything on the left while I was working in the Democratic Party, because the left had nowhere to go.” Unimpressed with this? Does this make you not leap for joy at the prospect of voting for Democrats (or anybody) this November? Well according to our president you are “irresponsible” and your apathy is “inexcusable.” Your conscience and self-respect means so little to this administration that they fully expect you gladly reward their inability to perform in the least these past years. In fact Obama hopes to “warn young voters that the ‘hope and change’ they embraced two years ago is at risk if Republicans sweep these midterm elections.” I’d laugh in his face if I could.

If you consider yourself to be a Democrat and decide to fall in line this November for any other reason than a continued display of impotence you are helpless.

As the Obama agenda slowly crash lands, many in the liberal community are seeing their hopes go along with it – causing them to strike out in, what I think, several wrong directions.Liberal blogs flash headlines across their sites identifying the latest turncoat Democrats: enemies of the state; traitors to Obama’s administration. I too have been guilty of this, even starting this blog with a letter to Senator Lieberman attacking him for his destruction of the Senate’s healthcare reform bill. But I’d like to take a nuanced opinion of this in the future as more and more becomes obvious to me about the status quo of our country and how fiercely it is protected. It’s true, Senators like Lieberman, Nelson, Landrieu, and Lincoln should have the full force of the Left’s anger and those aforementioned liberal blogs are right in attacking them. However, it’s the angle of attack and source of the anger that I’ve decided needs to change.
