Death FlowerKeep in mind while reading the following that this president was elected on a campaign of “change.” That he won his election denigrating the “failed policies of the past.” Reminding oneself of these facts becomes a cruel joke when compared to the very things that he has since done. Anyone still defending Obama has to either be doing so out of refusal to admit to one’s mistakes, or has simply embraced a “team Democrat” philosophy and that as long as Barack Obama has a little “D” next to his name, he could skull-fuck Santa Claus and liberals would find some way to defend it. “It’s not what I would have done,” you can almost hear one say, “but he is the president and so knows a lot more about the situation than we do!” I want to know what third-dimensional chess excuse we get now that reports show that the White House has basically given up closing our concentration camp in Guantanamo Bay and his latest public mockery of those who would call for an end to hostilities in Afghanistan.

The “obsession”, that Obama makes light of, is simply the demand by its citizens that the U.S. death-machine end the practice of stealing from and killing the people of Afghanistan. On the seventh of June, America’s longest war – previously the 103 month Vietnam war – became the 104 (almost 105) month long disaster in Afghanistan known as Operation Enduring Freedom. During his presidential campaign, Obama took every advantage possible of his convenient and mediocre disapproval of the Iraq war while bizarrely calling Afghanistan “the right war.” With CIA Director Leon Panetta admitting that Afghanistan probably holds less than 50 Al Qaeda, the need for 98,000 troops in the country becomes ever more difficult to explain.

The only rational Obama seems to be able to come up with for extending our continued occupation is to “disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda.” But we know Al Qaeda isn’t there or is there in a capacity that the people on my commute to work have them outnumbered 2-1.

The only other reason seems to be its “newly” discovered mineral deposits. Known of since 2007, this may well have been what has made Obama realize that this is indeed the “right war.” If this is true, it would mean that we are simply there to steal, or make sure the right people steal, those minerals. There’s virtually no “terrorists” by our own admission, we’ve been there for nearly a decade, and we’re sending more soldiers there? Not only that, with Obama’s recent talks of a “civilian expeditionary force” moving into Afghanistan (besides Blackwater), the military will be free to start new wars with Iran or North Korea and not have to worry about cleaning up the bloody mess. So when your new laptop costs less in the coming years because we were able to steal lithium from Afghanistan while killing everyone in our way… hug a solider I guess.
