While millions starve, we analyze birth certificates. While bombs rip the limbs from children, we broadcast reality-show conspiracy theories about where some asshole was born. While our planet’s ecosystem is being strangled, we are blinded by fantasies straight out of some spy novel. “Was Obama born in Kenya?” Of course not, but who the fuck cares if he was?! He’s still managing to wage wars, plunder our wealth, and diminish our self-actualization despite whatever latitude and longitude he managed to fall out of a vagina at. To anyone who has given this issue more than the 10 minutes of smirk-and-forget that this deserves, you are being distracted while the empowered steal and kill.

The conservatives who push the issue and the liberals that grant it as worthy to denounce, are wasting time that could be spent analyzing the real crimes of our era. The corporate-owned media of course don’t want to analyze our imperialistic wars or policy-driven starvation and plagues because it either doesn’t serve their interests or, put more correctly, is directly counter to them! If their audiences were informed to whatever was actually happening besides the latest gossip about the royal wedding or whatever mindless bile Donald Trump has managed push out of his orange-painted face – those audiences might be motivated to topple the system that creates these situations.

The few liberal blogs I read recently have spent so much time writing about this issue as of late that just sifting through it all gives me a headache. How about we talk about the dehumanization of Bradley Manning, or the U.S. goverment’s role in the Libyan revolution, or the further concentration of wealth, or the 9/11 responders being screened by  the terrorist watch list, or the latest revelations of WikiLeaks, or any of a myriad of other infinitely more important topics than whether Obama was born in Hawaii or on Mars.

Liberals, this story is not important. Even if Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell spend time talking about it. That they give up so much time denouncing it should make you suspect that more important things are being ignored, maybe even that you are being distracted from less palatable events of the Obama administration. So be proud liberals, for the president you so dearly love even while he kills and steals daily was born within the imaginary lines of the fiction we call The United States!

A year ago yesterday the explosion that caused the Deepwater Horizon oil spill rocked the Gulf of Mexico and the infamous pipeline began spewing death into our waters for nearly 5 months. The consequences of this tragedy cannot be fully understood just yet and I’m sure we’ll all see and hear horror stories resulting from these events for many years to come. And as the common refrain goes, those responsible for this destruction are nowhere near being held responsible and are not expected to make good for their misdeeds. Indeed, not a single law or regulation has passed to prevent another disaster. This comes on the heels of learning what we always suspected, the various oil companies’ role in our most recent and tragic invasion of Iraq.

In what can only be described as a coming together of the Property Party to further fuck the humbled masses, a “deal” was forged to “save” us from a government shutdown. With an election season dawning on the horizon, the events of last week are a perfect example of the futility of voting for the “lesser evil” and the extent to which the Republicans and Democrats are representative of the same class interests. At no time was the budget argument about whether to cut or not, but rather how much to cut. Nor was it ever a discussion of who to cut from, the obvious choice had always been the poor, minorities, and women. This was, from the very beginning, a discussion about how much they could take from you and I – yet again.

I saw this article on one of the tech blogs I read. Turns out the State Department is working on a way to basically wipe your phone of its contacts’ information and be able to send out communications as if they are from your phone, you know, to “help” democracy advocates. I gave a guffaw at the notion that something like this could possibly be developed in order to help those that would topple the U.S. government’s favorite torture houses in the Middle-East. Imagine, all the U.S. government would presumably need to know is the identity of high profile revolutionaries, wipe their phone remotely so that any contacts they may need to communicate with are gone and finally they can send out fake texts to those contacts. Misinformation at its best is what it seems like.
